Hey Buckeye, I see you got it uploaded.

Here's the link to my tank build if you're interested.

i read that thread before. it went over my head once you and egon started talking about flows and line sizes. that tank is super impressive. i would have been scared to death to fill that thing. that corner glass seam is awesome. :headbang2 i can't wait to see the 3 fish it in. i also like the blue more than the black. i think you made the right choice there. good luck with the sump changes. hope they work for you. sorry about the loss of you cam!

I assume that its open rafters? Are you putting in or do you have floor drains?

Also, what is your prevention plan for mold/moisture?

Looks cool so far!

it's so good that i found this site. i had no plans for mold / moisture. i figured once the basement was finished it would just kind of hold like the rest of the house but be a little cooler. off the bottom of the posted pic is a small mech room where my furnace and hot water heater are. i could easily put a small dehum unit it there if i need it. from your question it sounds like i will. i never even thought of it. would tanks with lids really add that much humidity to the room?

the ceiling is currently the beams / rafters / floor joists to the first floor with ductwork / electrical / and plumbing. the plan is to box the beam with drywall and t-bar / drop ceiling the rest.

i have a regular sink drain plumbed on the wall to the far right ( behind the bar ). it will also be the sink drain for the bar. there is a floor drain by the hot water heater in the small mechanical room. both will be accessable from the tank locations. about 25 - 30 linear feet from furthest tank to floor drain.

please anything i am overlooking ( like room humidity ) put a comment on here. i overstocked my 45 and while thats a small mistake ( yes i am working to fix it ) a poor design on a room could be a huge mistake. thanks.

Yeah, make sure your tank has a lid. Besides keeping the fish in it would hold down evaporation into your house. The last thing you want is a mold problem. I would also prime any exposed wood to minimize moisture absorption.
Water is good for fish not so good for houses......:D

What are your filtration plans?

My basement fishroom did not cause a problem for me until I had over 1000g down there (lidded tanks).

I don't think your SO would appreciate people walking in your home and knowing right away that there is a big tank in the basement because it smells like a fishstore/petstore.

I installeda dehumidifier that I have draining to a pump that pumps the waste water directly into my sewer main. It runs maybe once a day (this is with 60+ tanks running) so you may not have that much of an issue.

Thing is, you don't WANT an issue. It wouldn't hurt to invest $100 or so in a small dehumidifier to have out of the way that would prevent issues. I would much rather empty a dehumidifier every few days then figure out what to do about black mold from too much moisture. It can be a serious health risk and is easier to prevent than to treat. Worst case scenario for planning for it is you have one more task each week to empty it and a slight raise in electric bill. The other (maybe a benefit?) thing with dehumidifiers is they add a significant degree of warmth so in teh winter months, can help your tank heaters not have to run as hard.

Otherwise, I would make sure you have a plan for your water drain and fill. That is a lot of volume and if you don't have a sink down there, you will regret it even if its just for maintenance of your filtration media and not necessarily your drain and fill.
