bass wont eat anything. Even live!

Could I use that in conjunction with Seachem's Metronidazole? My bass did develope HLLE 6 months ago and has healed but I know Hexamita is the internal disease that starts HLLE. He could still be suffering from this which is why he is not eating. Is this possible?

dosnt matter if one is sick the others have come in contact treat the whole tank i recommend prazipro by hikari use a full treatment its gentle on fish and gets the job done if you have fed him feeders his whole life ur lucky hes not allready dead try to get him on shrimp ,cut up fish its much healthier for him

Agree with treating the whole tank! We made the mistake of only treating the fish showing symptoms only to have to later go back and do the whole round of treatments again because others started showing symptoms later.

I may catch some flack for this, but once he is treated, if he's still not eating, put him in a separate tank with a bunch of feeders -even ones that you might think are too small for him. He may go for an easy, easy meal. Our recovering pbass just couldn't resist having constant food availible to them and they eventually started chowing down. We had some juvies that got ich and then wouldn't eat -even the rosies were too much for them. So we went to a LFS that was breeding cichlids and bought some of the fry that were teeny tiny. It totally worked. Since yours is bigger you probably won't have to go that far, but rosies (as much as I hate em) might be right up his alley since he's weak.

I like that idea to get him to eat and will try that after I treat him. I am still trying to properly cure him and the tank. I am convinced it is not a parasite/fungal infection and is more bacterial. He shows no signs of external problems and cant tell anything from his poop (doesnt eat) which would help a little. The prazipro only cures parasites like worms and such. Could it still be a parasite or does it sound more bacterial? This is why I was thinking about going with Metronidazole. People say to use it in food but he doesnt eat which makes that option impossible. I guess it is not very soluable either. Any ideas?? Thanks again everyone for the help!

Well I talked to seachem today and I am going to treat him with KanaPlex. I am going to keep him in my 55 gallon by himself and see if he comes around. They are convinced it is bacterial since they're no external symptoms and the kanaplex works very well in the water since he is not eating. I will let you guys know how it works out. Thanks for the input!

Don't forget about using salt. I've had issues with past cichla I've kept and salt saved my rear many times. Some meds can be used with salt and some can't. If nothing else I can help a weak fish recover after the issue has been resolved with meds. Good luck!

that fish in that picture looks skinny to me that is the only sign of internal parasites visible from the outside white stringy crap is a symptom also but i think they are different parasites i would never combine meds bad idea all the way around my fish had the same symptoms as yours prazipro is what i used and it worked for my fish and even if one of your fish has a bacterial problem you should still treat the whole tank moving the fish not only spreads the infection keep in mind parasites travel through the water till they find a host bacteria is spread much the same way

1 cup of salt per 100 gallon has worked for me as an "all around" tonic, but you could go with higher rates for short periods of time. I would do some research on here and hear what others have to say on the exact amount to use for cichla as I don't remember exactly my "hospital" rate and haven't kept cichla sp. for awhile. Some fish tolerate higher salt levels much better than others...

Ok I am going to try the prazipro first to treat the whole tank but if he doesnt get better I am going to try the KanaPlex. Hopefully it will work. And yes you are right his head looks huge compared to his body. Should I use the salt with PraziPro??
