hey everyone I just noticed this now and I'm freaking out...is this bad...I'm going to check the water parameters now...please help me asap...did I mention I'm freaking out!!!!
she seems to be breathing a little heavier then the others who seem fine...I tried feeding them, and no one is really showing interest at the moment...just did a wc and noticed it..

ammonia, nitrite and nitrate is all 0ppm
the only changes that have been made to the pond is that about 3ish weeks ago I added (3) 4in black bar silver dollars and I added peat to the pond in a filter bag in my sump thats it-the sd's aren't bothering the rays at all...
can anyone tell me what's going on here???

sorry-500 gallon pond, 3 rays 10-12 in and 3 sd's thats it.. 8x4x4 dimension
w/c normally twice a week, this week I held out to once a week and did 40% wc..

If your nitrates are 0 something is wrong with ur filter. Maybe it crashed when you added the silver dollars. Nitrat should be somewhere between 10-50. Picture would help alot!

i think its the sd's i noticed a lil bit marks on the other 2 rays..they are stressing them...I just took them out
just looked again, my nitrate is 5ppm..how can the pond crash when adding 3 sds??? i'm not familiar with how that can happen!

he said that because your nitrate was 0, which is impossible with established filter. I would take them out anyway as they are probably very active and freaking out your rays.

I have 7 large SDs in with my rays and the rays don't even acknowledge them.......If you have 0 nitrates something caused your cycle to break and to restart. Slime coat shedding is usually a sign of bad water params causing stress. The addition of 3 SD should not affect your params unless you are under filtered or overfeeding.

That's good to know, I figured maybe the rays were young and skittish but it was a pure guess.

Are you sure your nitrate are only 5? What kit are you using that you got 0 and then 5?

i have api...it maybe 3 years old at this point...is this REALLY bad???i mean i know its not good at all-but can this kill the ray in the state she is in??? because I'm leaving for the day, and this is freaking me out to leave in this situation ya know...should i remove the peat that I made and put into the filter bag in my sump...its a 75 gallon sump

3 years might be old, i would get a new test kit and remeasure, you may be at the end if a bottle where the remnants that were not shaken well ended up, ... just to be sure its not your water. throw in some prime if you can in the mean time ...?
