Beamswork LED's

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok lights are in and on tank(s)

LIGHTS ARE 1/2" ABOVE TANK

word of caution.. the extendable legs (at least on the 6ft light) are weak for support when extended to fit a 7ft tank)

we will start ot with the packing...
36" packed in 2 boxes and bubble wrap
72" packed in 3 boxes and bubble wrap

all leds light up on both fixtures

36" tank(standard 30g) full coverage and nice color both on actinic and white lights.. full penetration to bottom

7ft x 2 ft x 2ft tank. ..6ft light covers the tank entire tank well. front to back, top to bottom, slight difference on ends since light is shorter than tank..but very slight.. color good. actinic and white(although mine is very slight yellow tint due to bare bottom tank with yellow pine boards under tank so you get some reflection off the wood when on white lights) ... below is the specifics of which lights i ordered

for my 7foot fowlr (salty) i ordered the

the one thing i can say i DO NOT LIKE ABOUT THE LIGHT other than the before mentioned adjustable "legs" is

there is no way to go from whites to actinic or actinic to wites without turning light completely off..a 3 position switch all on.....off.....actinics

Has anyone tried rewiring one so the moonlights can be on a timer and the whites/actinics can be ran differently?

Quite a few people have done it successfully from what I've read on review sites and on MFK.

Fortunately as well the Version3 comes with an OEM timer that you can set it up to run automatically.

Thanks for the info, I knew that people had talked about wanting to modify them but don't remember seeing anyone say they actually do it. If the V3 has a timer though then I'll start looking into those.

I believe the timer is an option for the v3. It would be well worth it imo. In my original review that was basicly my only complaint. However for the price you cant really be mad it doesnt have that feature...

Hello all. I am new to the forum. Thanks to Google, I stumbled upon it when doing some research on lighting. I am Rachel; I keep african cichlids (aulonocara and haplochromis sp.). Look forward to meeting and talking with all of you.

I just ordered a V3 - 72" Beamswork HI LUMEN 400 LED 0.2W Hex Light Fixture (with optional Timer) -- same fixture & specs as 'agreeive?fish' listed above. It is for my 125 gallon (72.5" x 18.5" x 23 3/8") tank.

ixture Size: 70.50" x 7.00" x 1.38" (Add 0.65" in height with bracket installed)

LEDs Count: 400
7000 Lumens

I ordered at 12pm on Monday, March 11th using the free standard shipping (6 to 8 days) and received an email today confirming the shipping via UPS (tracking number) and arrival date of no later than Tuesday March 19th. Can't wait to receive the light. I am crossing my fingers that I am lucky enough to receive a unit that will not cause me problems, as I have experienced quite a few issues with my fixtures over the past 4 years. I spent last night reading through all 20 pages of the posts; thank you so much to all that have shared their experiences and pictures, it has been very helpful!

I will be sure to post pics once I have it up. Can't wait!!! :nilly:

Ordered from Aquatraders by the way. Noticed that as of yesterday they are all out of these fixtures (the type I ordered). I originally wanted to order the BeamsWork HI LUMEN 1W Quad LED fixture with the following specs (but they were out of stock):

Fixture Size: 70.50" x 7.00" x 1.38" (Add 0.65" in height with bracket installed)

LEDs Count: 112
7500 Lumens
Super energy efficient 1 watt high output LEDs
84x 10,000K LED
28x Actinic 460nm LED
Use 112 watts

Has anyone ordered this type? Curious on the difference of this versus the others.

Also, is there a reason that people order two 36" or two 48" fixtures, rather than a 72" for their tank?

Thanks in advance for the input.
