Maybe updating for myself, and I know pics are real bad this time, but I'm just documenting them.
I've lost MANY at 1" and many more at 3" due to bloat. If it's working for you cool but you are playing with fire with that diet. I've lost Beani at 7" to bloat, they are never immune from it. Just know that once they get it it's already too late (unless you have big ones). Having said that they are awesome cichlids. I have a 10" male Panuco Beani and he is a sight to see!

My issue lies in that no one has truly proven a successful way to raise them yet (an 80% success rate could just as easily be stated as a 20% failure although I haven't even seen that high yet), so until then chances should be taken by those willing and somewhat educated in what they are dealing with. I'd like to place myself in that group although others may disagree. I accept that there is probable failure, and that this is playing with fire, and will take it if it comes.
