GL my friend. I thought i was doing all the right things with mine. got them when they were 1" and grew them to 2.5-3" in no time, but thats when it all went downhill. They started to stress and stop eating. lost all 10. : (

Same with mines, all was fine till it develop bloat at 2.5-3". Was on Omega cichlid and color pellets at the time.

I've lost MANY at 1" and many more at 3" due to bloat. If it's working for you cool but you are playing with fire with that diet. I've lost Beani at 7" to bloat, they are never immune from it. Just know that once they get it it's already too late (unless you have big ones). Having said that they are awesome cichlids. I have a 10" male Panuco Beani and he is a sight to see!

I am aware of this but I do appreciate another warning. As shown, I have my own theories and I have read into it quite a bit. My issue lies in that no one has truly proven a successful way to raise them yet (an 80% success rate could just as easily be stated as a 20% failure although I haven't even seen that high yet), so until then chances should be taken by those willing and somewhat educated in what they are dealing with. I'd like to place myself in that group although others may disagree. I accept that there is probable failure, and that this is playing with fire, and will take it if it comes. However either way, hopefully the knowledge gained advances the hobby.
Anyhow, and I hope it is allowed to be linked on here, but I found this interesting on bloat, even more so as it's a sticky on another site

Ha would be even better if I could get better pics. Their fast and I don't want to cause them unneeded stress though.
