Bearded Dragons...Current Cage and the future one...?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have always wanted to do something similar with a statue of a cobra that I have. I always thought it would be cool to make it look like it was once buried but is becoming exposed and visible. I think it would ad a lot of depth and interest to the tank but as far as it be useful for the animals, not so much...

Havent posted on this thread in awhile...had some real life setbacks, financially and otherwise. Buuuuuuuuut...i am starting to save up again...so hre is my current plan...work in progress. Not sure if it 'monster' but it is pretty big, 53" long...without further ado...

P.S. the box hanging down is a burrow box...figure this will be an added luxury...

will post more as I do more of the framing. Yes I have over framed it, but that is because the military hires the cheapest movers, so I am planning for the future...

looking good!! and yeah good choice, i dont even remember the number of dressers/cradles/etc my sister has had ruined from military moves :( make it nice and solid and you shouldnt have that problem though:D

i have two bearded dragon one 7 month old in a 3x2x1.5 vivarium the other beardy is 3 years old in a 5x2x2 vivarium. both my bearded dragons have wood chippings as substrate and i have no problems

Well that is your preference, and not one shared by most beardie owners out there. I'm just glad yours havent eaten any wood chips by accident...which is always a possible fear you should have. But to each his own. Now back on topic.............

I think it looks great but maybe you should bring it up a little bit so that it is sitting at eye level. Just a thought.

I agree and the space for lights and such is really big, unless you are making that a storage area I would cut that down to six inches, that is plenty of room to do your light maintenance and such
if you want the storage then I would use a bottom area and bring the dragons t eye level like said

also a thing that people often forget is that beardies spend a lot of time in trees when in the wild and they will feel more secure, one of my beardies spends 80% of the time in the branches across her cage and on a ledge up high
and my other beardie who is a rescue and has some pretty bad MBD is always trying to climb the branches and logs
they also will usually sleep up on the logs which is usally a bit nicer to look at then a big beardie flopped on the ground lol
