i remember oddball saying you should NEVER use vitamins designed for human consumption for your fish. I forgot to ask why.

I've never tried any fresh meats. I always feed mine the frozen cubes of beefheart, squid, krill and silversides

Vitamins formulated for humans often contain large amonts of zinc which is toxic to fish

not to be the voice of decent but dont u guys worry about liver problems.im looking for a high pro. food too. ithink frogs are the trick just gets expensive.any ideas on how to cut cost?

descent sorry.

i agree. do you have any ideas on frogs as meaty foods?

excuse me MFKs are there any natural fish wormers other than garlic?

We usually have several cases of beef heart...port heart...chicken or duck heart on hand at any one time. We have 2 wolves and 7 large dogs who are all raw fed so theres no lack of meat...fish and poltery around here. We belong to a huge meat co-op here in SoCal.

What I usually do is cut up one of the hearts into small portions and then freeze it in sandwich bags. I do the same thing with the blocks of Tuna meat...salmon...so-on... our fish generally get beef or pork heart about once a week.

If you shop around at some of the ethnic markets (Asian or Hispanic) you can usually find beef and/or pork heart in the packaged meat section.

Chicken hearts work as well...and are easier to cut up. (I freeze them whole then after thawing just take a few to the tanks and use sissors to cut into whatever size I need in that tank.
