I spray it on the hand-towel and never clean the top 10cm or so, I just wipe that with a slightly damp chamois.

convict_breeder also has some competition ;)

You should never clean a tank with windex. never, never, never. I think the tank looks much better.

Cleaning the tank with Windex is fine, getting windex in your tank is not fine.

Meh, windex isn't needed. A microfiber towel is my best friend when it comes to cleaning glass or anything really. I use a bigger one to wash my car :D. All you need is a little water and everything comes off. You can also find these towels just about everywhere too and they are super cheap.

Also convict_breeder you said that all you had access to was a wal-mart, so why not grab a background from them for 3 bucks? Or if you want a pure black background, which I dont think wal-mart has, you can buy some foam poster-board for about 1-2 dollars and cut it up. With a background, light from other sources, room lighting etc., will be kept out more, keeping the algae levels down, and your algae won't be as apparent, which could be a good or bad thing. Good Luck!

Btw, your pleco is pretty sweet. He's an algae inhaling beast! :)

thats what they say but ive been doing it for yrs and never had a problem. you just dont want to spray it all over the glass just make a few streams and wipe down.

I'm sure you know what you're doing but be careful with that stuff. I had a buddy that lost an entire tank of really cool fish and the only thing we can think of that would have killed them off so fast was the windex. I just use a damp cloth myself especially after watching that disaster but then again he was spraying the stuff right on the glass.

Sometimes I've even breathed on the glass so it fogs up, and then used a towel. Normally I just get a damp cloth though.

I do as japes said. I always spray the windex on the hand towel I am going to use to wipe the glass with.
