i have a 6x2x2 180g tank and have been told by a couple of people that it will only house 2 oscars at most. i wanted a couple more but dont know now and il be a bit :irked: if i can only keep 2 in here

well if theres no agresion i think u could have 4 with some more water changes

i was hoping for 4. well i initially thought 3 but was told 2 would more than likely bully the 3rd so settled on 4. they will have a 60% or so water change every 5-7days as i have to do all my water changes on a day with my husband off work. the filtration i have on the tank is one fx5, 2 fluval 4+ and a fluval 3+.

4 is a crap number. For almost guaranteed success, you want one alone or six+. Three and four are terrible numbers because of aggression and possible mated pairs getting defensive. Since your tank cannot house six Oscars, I strongly advise finding an already established breeding pair or only having one.

I know this sounds like a crazy waste of space but I agree. You could set up a nice tank around one O and it could spread out and grow to a really good size. Trouble is most people don't want to devote a 180 to one fish. As a centerpiece with some nice Red Hook silver dollars well decorated and lite correctly it would be a stunning display.

Oh, with one oscar in a 180, you've got LOTS of stocking options. Catfish, other cichlids of similar temperament, angelfish, all sorts of oddball top feeders, characins. It'll be great.
