the tank is already set-up, black and white gravel, a couple of large pieces of drift wood, it was set-up for my goldfish so i just removed all the plants and left it as it was.

i was hoping for a tiger oscar, an abino tiger oscar and a green oscar (if i could find one) but im not too fussy really. i love the shovelnose catfish, but they grow too large for my tank IMO. i was considering a sailfin pleco though.

i will be off in hot persuit of a couple more young O's tomorrow after my husband has finished work.

i will look at the severums, i like them but i havent really looked into them.

IMO 3 oscars grown from small have a 75% chance of working with some dither fish and decor to break the line of sight allowing each fish to establish a decent territory.

a lima shovelnose would be a perfect cat choice for a 180 and their eventual size will be smaller than a gibbyceps plec anyway (if it was space you were worried about)

the worst possible senario would be that a pair form and if they give the other O stick then it will have to be removed but chances of this happening are low IMO.

good dithers could include silver dollars, large congo tetra, demasoni barbs etc etc all look good in a school of 6 or more.

good luck with it and would love to compare oscar tanks once yours is sorted ;)

i got 2 oscars but imo a 180Gl is not too big for them.
Considering i got 2 plecos, a gar and 6 silver Dollars as well.

i'd stick with 2 O's and get some other tankmates.
4 adults in a 180 will be a bit much and i fear some trouble ahead.

that is one lovely looking set-up :)

i think il stick to the 2 tiger oscars, they are inseparable, and get some non oscar tank mates. i love that gar, its beautiful. i think il be looking at either a school of silver dollars or a school of bala sharks. im thinking dollars as they dont grow as large. do silver dollars eat the scraps of food that the oscars spit out of their gills as they eat? i cant believe how messy these guys are!

O's are the cows of the fish world, eat and crap! You're 180 will be a good size for the two Tigers, good choice too IMO. I would get Red Hook Silver Dollars if you can locate them about 5 or 7 would be a good number I like odd numbers with schooling fish. They will eat some of the gill scraps some pictus maybe 3 will do bottom duty along with a nice school of large growing cory's I think would be a good choice but make sure they are large growing.

I know this sounds like a crazy waste of space but I agree. You could set up a nice tank around one O and it could spread out and grow to a really good size. Trouble is most people don't want to devote a 180 to one fish. As a centerpiece with some nice Red Hook silver dollars well decorated and lite correctly it would be a stunning display.
You can still put dither fish in and a bottom dweller.....then enjoy your Oscar pair!

so 5-7 silver dollars, i dont know if the ones i can get are red hooks or not, but il have a look around, cant go until next weekend now anyway. i do like the pictus cats, ive been eyeing them up for a long while now :) 3 of them for the clean up crew. hopefully my O's will grow up nice and big and they can stay as the centrepiece fish in this tank :D

i would have added pictus before but i wasnt sure if the O's would decide they were whiskery snacks
