Here's the process. The towels were all over to keep myself from soaking everything..
I rinsed the sand A LOT!! :nilly: :nilly: I separated the 50 lb bag into 3 buckets to make it easier to rinse. When i was done rinsing, i cut a little more than 1/3 off my intake tubes.
Then i took a metal strainer and scoop by scoop, set the sand in the tank slowly.

It barely clouded at all. The Filter sand really does just sink to the bottom without floating around at all. :D

Thanks for everyones help in my other thread.

I want to, it's expensive though and takes a long time to soak and get out the tannins.
(at least from what i've heard)

that must have been a pain, but worth it

looks great. wher'd you get that filter sand? i wanna go sand on my poly and ray tank but i've stayed bare bottom for other reasons (im lazy when it comes to cleaning, and keeping a bare bottom tank clean is the easiest)

looks nice!

Driftwood is free! Go to your local lake and you would be surprised of what you could find in 1/2 hour of looking. I found a nice piece and soaked in for 24 hours and put it in my tank. I have heard about tannis but I did not have any problem my water is crystal clear.

yea i agree with some driftwood that tank could really look good........good idea using the strainer, i usually use a cup but im gonna try the strainer from now on............
