Before and After - Gravel to Sand

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I bought sand from Home Depot the other day that sand Natural Sand. Is this the same stuff that you used? It was a 50 pound bag that cost under 10 bucks.I'm going to use it for my Pbass and Oscar tank.

That fish is awesome btw!! So is the tank.

THe Lois isnt aggressive.....yet.

He keeps hitting on my Female Jag and they lip lock occasionally. They did a lot yesterday and he wound up with some cut up lips.

But other than lip locking with her. He minds his P's and Q's.

Natural sand from home depot? I dont know. I know they have a few types of sand at Home Depot.
They have play sand, and SOMETIMES they have Pool FIlter Sand in the Garden section.
But as far as "Natural sand". I dont know.

I would feel more comfortable saying yes if it said "FIlter Sand" on it.
Because it is made to be inert, clean and non-toxic.

My guess is that you'll have to rinse it for a long time. Longer than I did. Since its natural, it probably isnt cleaned before hand.
(i'm just guessing at this)

Thanks for the complements.

it looks like small and i mean small gravel, not sand, looks great either way, how big are your oscars?

much better..i wish i could change all my tanks over to sand or at least fine gravel.. now that i have a few sand substrates all the others look bla to me.. good job!

Not sure if the sand makes it look better, but the aquascaping is now alot better. You'll see big improvements with some driftwood or natural stones.

:headbang2 :headbang2 Gotta go with natural or bare bottom, everything else looks phony:headbang2 :headbang2
