beginner ray!

OP imo... if you keep a large reptile like a monitor a ray is no more or less dangerous imo, actually imo the monitor is potentially the more dangeroud of the 2;)

i would have to agree with that statement. monitors have a TON of bacteria in their saliva which leads to many health problems if not treated. they also have teeth and claws, where as the ray only has it's barb.

regardless of animal, all should be respected. even a dog will bite if you don't respect it.

Agree completely. Monitors are a lot more dangerous than rays.

if you cant make up your mind turtles or rays then you are not ready for a ray

if your tank is smaller than 6x2x2 then you are not ready for a ray

if you are scared of getting stung you are not ready for a ray

unless you are getting a fly river turtle a mata mata or a snapper then turtles are boring but if you are worryed that a motoro will get to big then you dont have enought room for amy of the turtles mentioned and you stand more chance of getting bit by a snapper than getting stung by a ray

people always say a good starter ray is a motoro but they are one of the largest rays about and you dont see many full grown adults compaired to the amount of pups sold each year so what happens to them all

retics are not hard to take care of as long as you get a healthy one thats feeding well from the start most people buy the very very small retics labeled as teacups which are new imports and no more than a few weeks old

hystrix is the best starter ray but with any ray make sure you see it feeding before you bring it home and pick the ray up yourself yes you may pay more from a lfs but at least you get to see the ray feeding

buying online is a big gamble it doesnt matter if you pay a few $$$$ more or have to drive a 100 miles you know what your getting if you pick it up

i have never got a ray from a online seller and never will unless i can pick up myself
