belonesox belizanus

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
females are so much more fun then the males- they are so much more aggressive and intelligent. My female is eating out of my hands - male just hangs around the back of the tank staring into space

Add another filter (a small HOB) and do a partial water change to lower the ammonia levels.

mine is the exact opposite so far! male is agressive and plays a bit! cant wait to get home from work to watch.

thanks guppy, will do, what is HOB filter? i have a penguin 125 and can throw in a submersible i have?

HOB = Hang On Back.
A good one is the HOT Magnum. You can do fine "water polishing" as well as general water maintenance. Use Zeo-Carb or other Ammonia specific media to combat your ammonia.
Tip: if you get a HOT Magnum, point the diffuser toward the side of the tank to better dispurse the velocity. Your Top-Minnows will thank you.

update, the male at 5 mosquito fish, i was trying to get the female to eat because she looks awfully thin, but the male just ate all of them, his belly is big and im worried he'll over eat and the female wont eat, hopefully she does alright. she followed some mosquito fish a few times, and my brother said she tried to eat a ghost shrimp? id didnt see it though.

ok, here are some pics, and i have to say, i failed miserably. i took a bunch and all were blury, so tommorrow ill actually take the time to put up my tripod haha, anyway here are a few just for jason:grinno:

I want them <3
Only problem is i'v never ever seen them in Scotland before, how should i go about getting them?

one of the best part is that they are livebearers also, hopefully i can get some god breeding out of them, thats why i want the female to fatten up!

jason, im not sure, ive never imported or exported, or even shipped fish at that haha, but i heard that in some parts of the UK, belonesox belizanus are fairly easy to get.

Try sprinkling a few small live crickets on the surface then staying well back from the tank, this may tempt the female to eat.
