"There's really no need to "MAX" unless you want to be a power lifter... and that is usually only used as a "benchmark" of progress.... pun intended.... instead if you want to increse strength use a close to max weight so you can push atleast 6-8 reps...
in a Nut Shell....
there's basically two types of muscles.... Type A (fast twitch) muscles... found in powerlifters and usually "higher weight" people..... these muscles are also called "white muscles" full of nerves, water and fat.....which can deliver "EXPLOSIVE" force.....
Type B (slow twitch) muscles are ones you usually see on body builders and high endurance athletes...... Also called "Red" muscles... they have less fat, less water, less nerves... but more blood vessels which deliver more oxygen for them to function for longer period of time........"
^^^^ there we go.and also this is a max bench thread.
"beex - it depends on what you're after. I've trained to fight since the age of about 10, and have never touched weights. I'm very fast and very strong, but to look at me I look completely slim, but with big shoulders. I can throw people around much bigger than me, and knock out the average ******* with 1 punch.
I don't care about my body looking ripped and toned and buff, in my opinion lifting is just for looks. I am slim, yet rock solid, that's fine for me.
Fighters like shane mosley were never the same after going on weight programs, half the speed, no snap, worse stamina, believe it or not even less power in the punches. The only thing he gained was more raw strength in clinches etc.
I guess weight lifting to me just seems something superficial, for a buff look etc. I'm happy with the way I look so I have never needed to do weights."
^^^^i totally agree that size doesnt matter.but you said that it is pointless, now your saying it depends on what your after on a mx bench thread.you should have just used this post instead of the 1st one.
o and we talk about this in another thread i made a while ago.bodybuilding has nuttin to do with fighting.for example bob sapp being huge fat+muscles gets his as beat badly by quite a few other smaller build guys.he is all size no technique
