BENCHING WEIGHT!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A big bench equals big shoulders. Very few people use the right muscles when they bench. For example. When you unrack lower to just a inch off your chest then push up most people use shoulders to push up and not chest. Well after the push up they lock their elbows upon returning to the top. That puts all the load on the shoulders and arms. You need to keep your elbows slightly bent the whole set to ensure most of the weight stays on your chest.

"There's really no need to "MAX" unless you want to be a power lifter... and that is usually only used as a "benchmark" of progress.... pun intended.... instead if you want to increse strength use a close to max weight so you can push atleast 6-8 reps...

in a Nut Shell....
there's basically two types of muscles.... Type A (fast twitch) muscles... found in powerlifters and usually "higher weight" people..... these muscles are also called "white muscles" full of nerves, water and fat.....which can deliver "EXPLOSIVE" force.....

Type B (slow twitch) muscles are ones you usually see on body builders and high endurance athletes...... Also called "Red" muscles... they have less fat, less water, less nerves... but more blood vessels which deliver more oxygen for them to function for longer period of time........"

^^^^ there we go.and also this is a max bench thread.

"beex - it depends on what you're after. I've trained to fight since the age of about 10, and have never touched weights. I'm very fast and very strong, but to look at me I look completely slim, but with big shoulders. I can throw people around much bigger than me, and knock out the average ******* with 1 punch.

I don't care about my body looking ripped and toned and buff, in my opinion lifting is just for looks. I am slim, yet rock solid, that's fine for me.

Fighters like shane mosley were never the same after going on weight programs, half the speed, no snap, worse stamina, believe it or not even less power in the punches. The only thing he gained was more raw strength in clinches etc.

I guess weight lifting to me just seems something superficial, for a buff look etc. I'm happy with the way I look so I have never needed to do weights."

^^^^i totally agree that size doesnt matter.but you said that it is pointless, now your saying it depends on what your after on a mx bench thread.you should have just used this post instead of the 1st one.

o and we talk about this in another thread i made a while ago.bodybuilding has nuttin to do with fighting.for example bob sapp being huge fat+muscles gets his as beat badly by quite a few other smaller build guys.he is all size no technique

Yeah I apologize for seeming rude, it's just that 2 types of people I really dislike from experience in gyms etc are bouncers and bodybuilders. I have found they are generally moronic, insecure, macho pricks. Yet the fighters I have been friends with, amateur and pro, have by and large been totally cool.

If you bodybuild for a hobby, personal challenge etc, then excuse me - good for you. It's purely that the type of lifters I've known have been absolute cocks.

I used to train at a boxing gym that was underneath a big powerlifting gym, and they were all rude, arrogant ****s.

To be honest the only people I've welcomed a fight with in my adult life have been body builders and bouncers.

I put up 245 in college at a weight of 153 lbs. During that brief stint of training the heaviest weight I got to was about 170 but never maxed out once I was that heavy. I am sure I could have done a lot more but I switched over to using dumbells.

and that was a response which i find extremely relevent to the thread.... but due to the fact it dosnt fit into someones logic..... it must be obsolete...... oh and i also posted that because someone said i didnt know what i was talking about.... had to prove i knew a thing or two..... my insecureity told me to do it.......
