I happen to enjoy plecos. I have a 5" and an ickle baby who is only 2". When I first put the big guy into my old tank he really went to work and all the algae problems I had were GONE. In his new tank there isn't much algae but he does his best to find every little bit of it!
Watching him come out and go crazy on his algae tabs is fun too.. he's not aggressive EXCEPT when an algae tab is in there. He'll whack all the other fish in the head with his tail until they leave him and his food alone.
