is the tank getting alot of sunshine on it, i put my tank in place where there is minimum sunlight all daym i never had any algae problems, also are u using the right type of lighting

No way. Its on the far side of the room. And my room hardly gets light as it is since I have two small upper wall windows.

Thats a good question about the light. It came with my hood so I don't know exactly. But I'll check as soon as I get home. Thanks dude. ;)

do you do a water change after getting rid of the algae. From experience with fighting with the Hairy Algae, if you don't do a water change, the algae will just stick to whatever again and grow, lol

Too much light and overfeeding are two of the major causes of algae.
How long do you leave your hood light on?
How much/ how often do you feed?

Keep these things in check and your algae problems will go away. Getting a pleco in attempt to correct an algae issue you can control on your own will only create an unnecessary increase in your bio load.
Prevention is the best algae eater, and a clean tank is the best prevention.

if its diatoms, cleaning the tank is the ONLY way.
if you have diatoms, the tank isn't clean, is it? :screwy:

clean the walls and decor, once the water settles, give the greavel a good vacuuming to clean it out.
repeat as necessary.

diatoms doesnt mean the water quality is bad but yes a good scrubbing will take care of it but trust me otos and bushynose love the stuff and will take care of it
