Best Algae Killer?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if you have a planted tank you could also dose your tank with flourish excel
it was suggested to me and got rid or my algee problem in less then a week

Like others have mentioned...there is always a cause. Is this tank near a window, does it get direct sunlight? Excess feeding and lack of water changes (high nitrates) will allow it to flourish. I really wouldn't go out and buy a UV sterilizer.

Algae consuming fish and inverts aren't gonna benefit if its in the water column.

So just keep the lights completely off and cover the aquarium w/ a blanket?

Your previous post says don't do water changes because it kills fish?:screwy:
Dude, what are you doing? No wonder you have algae problems!

could you explain? i see nothing of what you mentioned...

Diatom isnt really for algae though its for remove fine particles, see if you can pick up the filter pads that remove green water they work like a charm, Also make sure the tank gets no direct sunlight and keep your lights of, maybe add some plants to compete with the algae

I said I don't do water changes? I just did a 40% like two days ago. I always change my water. It's a little clearer now...

It was a little close to a window. I bought the room-darkening shades and tinted the windows w/ 2.5% now. It doesn't get any sunlight now though.
