Depends on the arowana. Jardini a are known to be extremely aggressive. Regardless of tank size. But a silver or black being aggressive that's a different story. I can't speak for Africans since I barely have any experience with them. But I'm 100% sure it's a hit or miss with jardinis

I agree this is my third jar over 16" the other two were strait up killers, cichlids, plecos and even left over feeders. I got lucky with this one.

Drogo, black arowana. Staple diet of Hikari Jumbo Carnisticks with a strong supplement of wild grasshoppers caught from my yard. He also gets the occasional cricket, lizard, frog or random large insect. I try to give him as much natural food as possible.

Thanks man! Its actually getting better as he gets bigger. I don't have any really good pictures because the Nikon is out of state with my wife (I'm getting ready to move), but heres a cell phone shot for ya. He's really shiny, too.

Two posts up. ;) :p :p

I agree he's super nice. I had a deal worked out to trade him for some mahseers, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. He's beautiful, tame enough to be petted and I've had him since he was little. I'm way too attached.

I hope to have a leichardti and an afrowana to go with him someday.

I'm in the same boat! It's killing me! I LOVE that show. My plan is to use GoT names for my arowanas. The afrowana will be Hodor lol. Not sure what I'll call the lei. If I ever get an albino silver it'll be Khaleesi.

Hahaha derp. Sorry man very tired just got out of work an hour ago to go back in at 10 am. Damn bills home games haha gives me about 8 hours to sleep from thursday to monday

I wouldn't be able to part with him too, I'm getting iffy about parting with my red hi fin wolf, I can pet him if hes being chill, raised him from 3 inch to nearly 7. In 4 months! Crazy growth rate, great personality that I feel needs to be fully appreciated in a specimen tank. And that's only an ery ery, not a comp grade black aro! Totally different level, I'd have him till I couldn't keep fish or he died of old age haha

I recently switched to hikari, i never really utilized pellets but gave em a go and theyve brought out the colors on my threadfin arcara wonderfully (sinking carni pellets) and have gotten my cten and sen growouts nice patterns, ones i havent seen on other senegals. now to get the monsters on em, my ornate and wolf will eat one. Just one. They ignore every other, but the minite i put brine shrimp cube, worms, or tilapia in the tank they go nuts. Dont get that at all. Ive tried floating sticks and sinking pellets.

Sorry to derail a bit just a little frustrated on that right now haha.

I feel like hodor would be a perfect name for the afro! I feel like a good name for a non albino silver would be Ghost! Or John Snow! Change it to Ramsy if he bites anybody haha

No worries man, I derp threads all the time too lol. I know what its like to work crazy hours!

As for the pellets and the difficult fish, I'd cut them off from everything else. What I'm getting out of your story is that they'll take one pellet because they're hungry and then they'll wait for food that they like better to be offered. If you just stop offering the other food, they'll eventually come around to eating a staple diet of pellets.
