My little brother (12) wants a pet and thinks a bird might malke a good choice. What is a good beginner bird. anyhting accept small finch-like birds.thanks
i think a canary is a bit delicate for a first bird..probably a parakeet or cockatiel but it all really depends on the type of person receiving the bird..birds need alot of attention ..by that i mean that you should not have one if you aren't going to spend time with it ..they love you and love that you notice them..otherwise they get very hurt and pull feathers out and squak and become nasty.. i had my cockatiel for 22 years.. to keep them healthy you need to change their water and give them fresh food 365 days a year..and clean their cage every day so they do not get sick.. only you know how your brother will be .. but if he is good with animals and they're care he will also have a great bird for many years to come.
my thirteen year old is caring for a green conure. However, it needs a lot of attention, but he watches tv and plays video games as this bird runs in and out of his hair and rest on his shoulder. But the bird plus cage was $300.
Parakeets are hellspawn. Get a chicken. That way, if anything goes wrong, he can fry it and eat it. And if he's too distraught over the death of his pet, send it to me; I'll eat it.
