Hey, I am interested in who has the best betta tank on MFK. By best I mean temperature, filter, appropriate tank mates etc..

Post some pics too!

Yeah these fish are meant for small puddles with no current.......The "BEST" tank for a betta would have to be Nano tanks smaller than 8g.......The betta is a slow swimmingish with long flowing fins........A reason why it should be kept alone is because the long fins attract fin nippers.....And in time, the fins become short and torn, which leaves to possible infections.......

So BUMP
let's see more pics of sweet betta setups!
that is after all why this thread was posted. :grinno:

I don't have any pics of my set up, maybe I'll take some tomorrow. But I have my betta sharing a 2.5 gallon tank with a firebelly newt. I have a whisper filter for 20 gallon tanks and I have a small plant. It's simple but looks nice.

btw fire belly newts release a toxin.. hence the name.. ;)

My husbands Betta Cujo lives in a 5gal hex from marineland. I'll have to snap some pics. has sand bottom and some root peices. also home to 2 large amano shrimp. and some free-floating plants that float around the surface.

Bettas do not survive long in those puddles of lore. They also suffer greatly in those little cups they are shipped in. Normal environmental conditions for bettas are bodies of water such as rice paddies or larger flood-like areas, but the vegetation keeps the water quality pretty good. After years of keeping bettas in everything from vases to 75g tanks (male plakat in my catfish tank right now) it has become clear that the more diluted their waste is, (better filtration, frequent w/c, larger body of water) the better they fare. But that's just my experience.

Some of my sisters (raised them myself in the fish room) in the 30 gallon.

I was pondering how tiny the betta fish is and its requirements for filtration.
A setup I would do is probably a 2 gallon tank with many low light plants: java moss, ferns, etc.
The plants would filter enough for a single betta right?
