Hello all im looking into getting a bichir if there is one i could fit into a 55 gallon tank im looking for one that will stay small enough where i wont have to upgrade the tank. are there any that meet these requirements. I would possibly like to put other fish in there with it im wondering what are good tank mates that wont out grow the 55 (possibly south/central American cichlids?). As the wife say's i cant have any more tanks :screwy: . thanks in advance for any and all help

I personally think a Oscar needs a 75. If you get a 75,then yeah 2 sens and a O would be fine. If you have the 55,2 sens and a convict, or T bar cichlid would work.

75's are 4' like a 55,just a bit wider,18" vs. 12"

sen, palmas, or a delhezi maybe for that.

a real gt is really aggressive maybe a gold saum?

What about a green terror or a jack Dempsey that wont get as big as an o
I think a GT or JD is OK for a 55,but I would not keep anything else with them. Too much bio load, and not enough room. I have a GT in a 55 myself, and I can't imagine anything else with him.

yea since those fish easily get 1ft long u would need a 75 gallon filter at least cause of the load. better off to go with somethin like a firemouth an a bichir or 2.
