A large Lace Synodontis Catfish (Synodontis Eupterus) or maybe two will not only get the job done, you'll learn to love them!!

I feel the same. To be honest it is only the oscars that seem to make the mess. I just watched them eat and they must not get any food because it all comes out their gills.
The problem is they are very personable which makes it more difficult to get rid of them, i will have to have a think.

I know what you mean, you get attached to these guys and it's difficult to get rid of. I look at it this way, I have Oscars and Pacu, have grown very attached to them. If push ever came to shove and I needed to get rid of them, I would sell them and turn a profit. That's how I would cope with the loss, I think I love money more than fish lol Also too, by growing and nurturing these beasts, you can feel good that you raised them well and the new owner will enjoy them as much as you did. Even though I love my fish, I do not think nor treat them as pets, they are just fish aka feeder food for the lakes and oceans. They are not like a dog or cat that can think and communicate with you. Animals feel, fish do not, that's why they were created to feed other fish and wild life and they sure do taste yummy. How many of you can eat fish while watching your fish in the aquarium ?

I understand what everyone means about pellet size, however, even with hikari baby pellets the fish still create a mess. I don't believe they would simply swallow the pellets whole at any size. Granted the mess created when using a medium pellet to a smaller pellet is larger, however, i don't think i can sustain these larger fish on tiny pellets because they make a mess. Seems unnecessary. The small hikari pellets are the correct size for sure, the fish just like to chew.

So, i have a good idea of what fish to look for when at my lfs. The medium sized cats seem to be the way to go. Maybe not a syno as he will certainly get fat and lazy in my tank, probably start creating a mess as appose to cleaning it!

I also have the same thoughts as you, with regards to selling fish and gaining profit. And letting someone else have enjoyment out of these fish. I disagree that they arent pets though, If you're anything like me you will sit and study them for hours of an evening. I have noticed they all have different personalities, how they interact with eachother and me. I am a sucker for naming my fish also, which gives them a persona. Making me even more attached. For instance my new RD - Randy is so full of personality despite being only small.
