Best C/A community cichlids

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
To be honest guys its not something i was going to put into practice as i already have my community and would not feel comfortable adding anything else. My tank works out at about 240g. I just wanted to get some information on good community centrals, like i said there seems to be loads of threads on which cichlid would kick another cichlids ass but pretty thin on the ground on which ones are better at cohabitating with each other.

Good Central American Cichlids for Communities:

-Firemouths (Except during breeding)
-Rainbow Cichlids
-Blue Acaras
-Thorichthys Elliotis
-Angels
-Jewels
-Kribs
-Dwarf Cichlids

Good South American Cichlids for Communities:

-Severums
-Geos
-Festivums
-Keyholes
-Apistos
-Rams
-Discus

Still making things up huh? Blue acaras? Angels? Kribs?

i just had a look at some pics of lyonsi and as iv never really seen one first hand i hadnt realised what a great looking fish they are. You learn something new everyday, definately one to look forward to for the future

My blue acara is absolutely evil she is always picking fights with my jag and rd. she has also spawned with my gt. From that xp i wouldnt say they were good community fish

My community tank:
210g (72x24x29)
Midas x1
Argentea x1
Pearsei x1
Black belt x1
Silver Dollars x5
Pleco x1

My Midas is 11" and a total puppy dog so it makes it easy, the other cichlids are in the 6-7" range. Pleco is 9", Silver dollars around 6". The dithers are what makes it work in my tank, they get chased rather than the cichlids fighting among themselves. But each fish has its own personality...
