Good question.
I am currently experimenting with this idea. and I am using fish I have not owned before including Pearsei (which i am falling in love with), gullatus, regani, synups. It was recommended that i got the Pearsei as the biggest and the synups as the smallest. and this seems to be working well so far. though my midas are starting to spoil the fun; they will probably be moved from the tank if thinks continue to get worse. .... Disclaimer : i plan to rehome fish that become uncompatable as things progress. here is recent vids of my juvi Central American Cichlid community tank:
