I have a 150 gallon with a 5-6" Motoro, Silver Aro and a Clown Knife. I'd like to put a catfish in there and was wondering what species would be best. I was thinking Lima Shovelnose based on their max adult size and temperment. Sound good? Any better ideas?

I figure in this 150 I'll have another year or so before having to upgrade to a 6" X 3" footprint tank for the ray. I know Redtails get too big too fast, so that's out. I'm want to start looking for a 4"-8" cat of some sort but wanted to get opinions on the best species as far as compatability.

Thanks

limas stay a decent size for that. if you want to pay a bit more, a tig looks great with just about anything. gets up to 2 feet, may have to wait til newer tank tho.

Certainly correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't a LSN only get to about 18" max? That seems to be the consensus on the internet regarding their max adult size. Sure there will be exceptions, and some will outgrow this size, but I don't plan on power feeding him. I have a Raphael Cat in another tank but he is too small, and I'm looking more for the look of a RTC, LSN, TSN, etc. From what I've read or what I am finding out LSN seems to be the smallest of the "Big Cats".

Lima shovelniose, tigrinus or jurenese should all be fine but if your planning on upgrading id go for a Giraffe cat i had one with rays and he was fine but when they get bigger they can become a bit too boistrust or rough for them.

I have heard of a few people saying that big Giraffes bully their Rays.

Good luck getting food to the ray with a TSN.

Irwinis work flawless..... Not too aggressive, rays can't chew on them, they come out slow so they basically clean up after the ray instead of competing with them.

All you gotta do is feed bigger chunks first to fill up the TSN then no problem thats what i do with my 20"TSN and i have a very healthy pair of 9" Motors go for a TSN cool fish one of my Favs great personality too!!
