Always had somewhat of an interest in this one actually. Definitely considering it :)

Suncat- sposed to get to 12'+ but never seen one bigger then 8"inches, they look cool in schools i think. Pictus Cat- about 8"-9"inches, these are very cool cats i think they have an attitude of a RTC and they "play" with eachother in schools, and a Albino/Blue/Channel Cat- eat EVERYTHING and are pretty darn awesome, and look nice for a showtank espishly a Albino

Yeah, most of those both of my LFS's have almost all the time and I've talked with them about both, but idk about them. I'm not terribly fond of any of them, but I plan on having a couple more tanks as I finally get a decent job so still a possibility :P

forgot to mention marble pim., whats your tank size?

Currently a 54 gallon bowfront corner aquarium, upgrading to anywhere from a 90-125 long within the next month or so, and once I get a steady job I'm hoping for at least a 150. Thus why I can't afford to house the TSN, I'm looking for a taker, and looking to get something that doesn't grow as big. Gonna have to do a little more research on the marble pim before I even consider it though.

Consider a Zorro Cat, which has a slight similar look to that of a TSN, to include the long trailers on it's fins. They reach about 12-18 inches and don't grow as rapidly as TSN's. http://aqualandpetsplus.com/Catfish, Miscellaneous III.htm

This probably has to be one of my favorites that have been suggested. Really loving the look of it. Now to get one of my LFS's to look around for it is the problem :P

Also an interesting suggestion. Like the marble pim, though, I'm gonna have to look more into it before I do anything.

How about a raphael catfish? It only a suggestion since they only get to like 9 inches max...

I've thought about it. Really I have, but they just don't appeal to me enough. I just can't seem to bring myself to do it.

Blue catfish? big? idk about that one, i thought they get 2-3FT

Anything over 2 feet, I really won't be able to house. So it's big in comparison to the tank(s) I'm going to be getting.

The gulper cat really intrigues me. Just looked it up because I've never seen it before. Gotta say, I love it. That being said, I'm afraid of it swallowing me, not just my other fish

Love some of the suggestions, but definitely gonna take a little more time to do a little more research on this. I'm leaning towards the Lima Shovelnose, but that's mainly because my LFS just got it in today at about 3" or 4" in size for $20 and I INSTANTLY fell in love  Of course, they also had a TSN about 2" long, but not even considering that :P

We'll have to see, but I'll keep you all posted. I'd instantly go out and buy it tomorrow, but I'm almost afraid that my TSN might try to eat him and just slurp him up. I don't think it'll be a problem, seein my TSN is rather docile and doesn't provoke any of my other fish (cichla that's only 3" long, I would think the TSN would at least provoke it a little), just not sure I wanna take the risk.

dood just do what i did its very boot leg though, get a INTEX above ground pool 12'x12'x30" -1,800gallons comes with a 2,000gph pump (u gatta make your own filteration, i am currently using two, 54gallon rubbermaids now just made the change with carbon, scrubbies, and lilys.) all costed me about $300 and throw in like 3-4 TSN's

Where is a good website to get these smaller cats online? I know its a bit off top but I am sure the TS would like to know also.

If you're going to end up with a 150, is this a standard or wide tank (wide is 5x2x2x)? A 2-foot catfish like a tigrinus shovelnose would really be too big for a standard 150 as its length is greater than the width of the tank. I'd look for something ranging in size from the jaguar catfish to the lima shovelnose that you're considering. I think a lima is a very good idea and you could put some of the milder species of cichlids with it like a severum, uaru, geophagus, etc. I'd avoid any breeding pair of cichilds in that tank though as they will take over most of a 150 gallon.
