I'm pretty sure a Quezel Cichlid is hard to beat at its best...

I also have to agree with an earlier poster that the Jewel cichlid can be amazingly colorful!

This is one of my little guys. Very feisty even with the Festae and Istlanum.

I agree jewels are floating starberries. Flowerhorns are impressive for color but thats a hybrid so dont know if they count in this vote. I do agree africans are pretty and yes ive seen A LOT., BUT i still will also take sa/ca any day of african. Im always sick of people blowing off centrals in stores because they see a 2" synspilus or black belt and think oh its just another gray or brown ugly cichlid. And people always trying to sell me on africans are so much better because of this. I laugh in my head because they dont realize that little ugly gray and black cichlid has the potential to look like this.

My criterion of the most colorful cichlid must have the entire rainbow of color, like some Macaw birds. African cichlids display intense color, but mostly blue and yellow and seldom combination of more than two color. Some said that certain Victorian cichlids display a rainbow of color, but they are too small to be noticeable. Line bred discus may display intense blue, green, and red, but never all color in one. EBJD may have the most intense blue, Green Texas has the most intense green, and Green terror has intense green with orange, but none display more than two color in one fish. I can only vote one CA species, Vieja synspillum or its cousins melanurus and bifaciatas, can potentially display red, blue, green, yellow, purple, orange and black all in one fish. I am saying only potential, because no two sysns look the same and only the high quality one displays full rainbow color.

I like the kyoga flamebacks reminds me of a rainbow or bag of skittles

When I first started keeping my own fish I started with cichlids. Those were my favorites then when I learned about festaes. That red color had me hooked from when I first seen them. (red is my favorite color) jds are cool also I like adult Ebjds the most.

Same here. The first time I ever saw a Rt my heart was set on getting one. Now my Festae, Lucy, is my focal point :), my second favorite is JD. Here's a pic of Lucy (my Festae) and Jill (my JD) uploadfromtaptalk1403192141401.jpguploadfromtaptalk1403192166938.jpg
