hi,i have 1 x ornate bichirs and 2 x laps and 1 x african pike.

i have white fine coral gravel that always looks a bit dirty no matter how i try to keep it clean.i also have a large bucket of fine black gravel.

which would you suggest for the bottom of the tank???

fine white coral gravel or fine black gravel???

many thanks mark.

id use gravel because when a fish poos it breaks down into the gravel, with sand it just sits on top, so unless u clean it every time a fiosh poos it will always look dirty
P.S. dark gravel will make ur bichirs have better colors, white makes them sorta washed out.

Ooo, good question, I like my whitish substrate, but If I had the option I would definately go black. So I vote black and demand pictures when your done! LOL

i've got the black in the hall way now.only problem is catching the 12" pike and the 3 bichirs who are 12",12" and 14".all the fish cover everything in a 5 foot radius with water.

thanks mark.

I liked the fine black so much that i converted all my tanks...

It gives a much more natural feel, and the endlis love burying their heads in it...which they polly couldnt do in gravel...

Fine black for sure! You def wont regret it...Best thing i have ever done, aqua-scape wise...

Use white sand with large dark rocks. Looks great, and brings out their colors

Black. I am changing mine over soon too.

Those pics....awesome...they look more like crocs then bichirs...lol
