Best feeders to breed???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I will have a seperate 10g fry tank....So i'm not too worried about the fry being eaten... I think Cons would be cool...I want some pretty active fish, I've already got it set-up for small SA cichlids now so maybe I should just toss in a few cons..

in my own inamitable style i can top all previous posts and let you in to a well kept feeder secret (despite my feelings about feeder fish) mozambique tilapia breed very often and have a high success rate if seperated at birth from adults. 4 females can easily produce enough fish to feed about 3 feeders per day every day. they grow incredibly fast, i have bred platy commercially in the past and these tilapia grow about twice as fast. and thats just on a cheap flake. i have month old fry that are just under 10mm in size. if any UKguys want them i am about to begin sending some stock out for this very purpose. i will supply i male and 4 females delivered for £30 a cheap price for cheap regular food.

How big a tank do you use, I have only seen them in pools.

Convicts. Just add water and *POOF* babies.

i've been breeding cons for 2 months now...i've had 3 spawns so far, but the parents always end up eating the eggs after a couple of days...

guppy mine are in a 7ft tank with oscars. but they breed at a very young age maybe at 2inches in length they are sexually mature. it stands to reason that you could keep cycling the young fish to breed and sacrifice the older fish. i would think a 55 gal would be needed minimum plus a 10 gal grow out tank
