ok iam getting a 120 for my 120 which will house some cichlids like a jad,jd,gt and others. i have been looking for external filters for it i have found some which have a reasonable price they are:
RENA FILSTAR XP3 EXTERNAL FILTER
EHEIM 2217 PLUS
and any more external filters which are around the £60-80 range
also the would be a fluval 4plus internal filter if needed and a power head if needed also.
thanks dave

I used to use the XP3 on my 120, it worked pretty good, but now I have the xp2 and xp4 on the 120 and the xp3 on my 75g. But yea the XP3 should do you nicely. My tank has a jd, 2 jags, some convicts, firemouth, ornate polypterus and a couple plecos.

ac110? searched for it nothing came up bar someone complaining that it was noisey, it needs to be quite as its in my bedroom, is the any need for the fluval 4 or power head, the fluval 4 takes alot of room
thanks all

I have an AC500 (same as AC110) and it is a very good filter but it is pretty noisy. I wouldn't recommend it if you are gonna sleep near it.

Howdy,

The 2217 is too small even for a 75 gal. I took it off mine and put it on my 40 gal. Great filter line, those Eheim Classics, though. Think about the 2250 or 2260.
