I use a 38g sump with a 1800gph pump and recently added an FX5 because I had a lot of large fish at one time and wanted a bit more filtration. My tank is spotless all the time levels are perfect i do water changes once every ten days - 2 weeks

WOW... every ten days. I do 50% every 5 days:D
and have a 4750gph pump from my sump that makes a lot of aeration
There a tons of lil bubbles that you cant see and at 86* water, I need a lot of it:D
Here is a pic of the aeration in the tank

I probably went overboard but it sure was fun!!

Do a sump. Make it somewhere in the neighborhood of 60-100G and you should be perfect.

sumps have their down sides

they are noisy
they are smelly

get 2 x eheim pro3s 2080s you will not be disappointed :D

go sump if your not into sumps look at a fx5 along with 2 hob ac 110's id actually go with 2 fx5's and a huge uv but thats a lot of money

You can get quiet pumps for a sump. If you have them in a cabinet you can't hear them. If you keep things clean, it shouldn't smell any worse than your fish tank already does.
