im sure there are plenty of threads like this but haven't looked to fare threw the threads. I just picked up 3 baby flowerhorns and was wondering what everyone was feeding theres and what opinions were for the "best" flowerhorn food for both there humps and there colors and keeping them healthy. thanx in advance

Hi,

The best food I would recommend is the "FLOWER HORN" pellets by www.up-aqua.com.

It made my 2 Kamfas and 1 SRD very beautiful in just 1 week of twice a day feeding.

Note* - Never feed them "Cyclop food" or the "x.o. super red syn". Your fish would easily bloat and the colors are not that pretty.

if you want to try something a little expensive, go with grand sumo, but hikari bio-gold and cichlid gold are great too.

I didn't see any "flowerhorn pellets " on that site .

Grand Sumo isn't very good , especially for the price ... its a rip

I have the hikari bio gold the pellets are a little big but I could crush them down a little. I will look this week to see witch of my LFS sells NLS and the next time I get into NYC I will go into china town and see what kind of FH specific food they have. I'm happy to finally own FH's it's been years of research but never bit the bullet. As they get bigger and I pick my male and female out of the group and my wife gets attached to them it will be easy to get a 6ft tank. Thanks for the help guys/gals.

So I picked up hikari bio gold today at one of the only stores that was open. We have a blue law in my county that stores are not aloud to be open so that we have one day with no traffic... Leave it to New Jersey. Tomorrow I will go to the other LFS that sells a lot more foods and I know they have NLS. 2 of the 3 baby's ate like pigs the smaller one had a few then he/she was grabbing them the spitting them out. If it keeps happening I might pull him out and put him in a 20 gallon alone to bulk him up a little he is the littler of the 3 and wasn't that health when I got him. Other then that I'm happy with the bio gold but will see more down the road.
