Haha. A Gentleman never tells. I WILL be getting something in early March for my birthday though

All we have to use is ball. We can't use hollowpoints. I will admit this affects my opinion very strongly.
I didn't teach a 'firearms class', I was a drill sergeant. I also have over 6,000 hours of range time plus practical experience. I taught the doctrine that my superiors told me to teach, and it is backed up with available data. Don't like military doctrine? I could care less, it works. The fact that 9mm is an ineffective killer is why we teach soldiers to shoot the enemy twice in the chest and once in the head, as I alluded to in my other post.
I also didn't advocate the use of 9mm ball for anything. I am a fan of .45 ball ammo, a proven man stopper. I did say that 9mm ball was a terrible round that doesn't kill effectively.
Please elaborate upon what 'mistakes' I have made and what data or experience you have to refute them. That isn't a dick statement, I would like to see your perspective as opposed to my experience and training. Does proper shot placement not make sense? Does practice not make sense? Do you refute the fact that an attacker nearly always breaks off an attack if they know their victim is armed? Do you refute the efficacy of a head shot? Am I not entitled to an opinion that differs from yours?
Also, I really can't understand your hangup on the over penetration. Any round has the risk of over penetrating, and taking any shot with any round without a clear line of fire is very foolish indeed.
I strongly suspect any discussions you and I will have will be like a Ford and Chevy person trying to convince each other that their truck is better. There is data to support both ideas, but at the end of the day shot placement and practice makes more of a difference than the type of round you use. I've already stated in previous posts that I have no problem with a quality JHP. I use JHP in all of my hunting rounds. I understand the point of it. My wife will carry it in her 9mm. However if you can present to me a good reason why putting a 230 grain .45 ball round into someone's head isn't a good stopper and technique, I'll certainly consider it. I'm not that stuck in my ways, I just use that which I am familiar with.
I would like to point out that over penetration sounds better than no or very little penetration. That said, I know very little about guns.
Would holding the gun sideways increase the velocity of the bullet? A recent academic article written in the University Book of Physics indicates that a sideways tilt can increase velocity.
I have not heard of that study and I doubt holding the gun in such a way would do much for accuracy....
Hello; Here are three links to information about self defense ammunition. The third link is perhaps the more interesting read.

Those were some great articles; definitely a good read for anyone that's looking to get a firearm for home defense.
