Hi MFK'ers,

I did a ton of research on this forum about 8 months ago and learned that the Marineland Visi Therm was a GREAT heater. I went out and bought 3!

Today, I did some research and learned that there are many reports of exploding heaters. Now, I have 3 heaters that I'm afraid are going to blow up in my tank.

Now, I'd like to ask, as of today, what are the best heaters that you guys can recommend to us that need a heater? I was looking into Rena SmartHeaters for Canister filters and read some bad reviews. I'm stumped as to which heater to get now.

I have to go with the Fluval "E" Series heaters. The temp is posted digitally on the heater, not some knob you can turn and guestimate. If your tank is 2 degrees above your set temperature the display will flash red, and if 2 degrees below it will flash blue. If it is in your set range it will stay a solid green color with temp displayed in half degrees. The price is very reasonable compared to other heaters, and i use them on every tank i have.

Ive had alot of luck with Titanium heaters. Not likely to explode lol. All my tanks have titanium of some sort. Some with integrated external controllers, the other 3 on the big tank have no integrated temp control so they run off of a Ranco controller. Think they are Blue line.

I used the viaAqua titanium heaters on my tanks...temp is always on point so I'm pretty happy with it

Hmm there doesn't seem to be one solid choice everyone uses, but it seems to be personal preference. For each heater so far, when you run a search, each of them have some quirks. I guess if it works for you, you should keep it. Can others chime in?

Also, I had a titanium heater by some random brand on eBay and it boiled my fish to 99 degrees. To note, my Jardini died, but my Silver Arowanas survived the heat.
