ditto. I wish they had one for Amonia, Nitrite and Nitrate and I have those too. I did see a Nitrate meter at MarineDepot but it was for saltwater only and topping the charts at $240WyldFya;1968964; said:Personally I use a digital pH meter.

A master test kit, and a standard pH kit from api will be the exact same. A pH monitor that is digital is much more accurate than most liquid test available to the average keeper.Hawkfish3.0;1966869;1966869 said:The best way to keep an eye on your pH is through a master test kit, like the one from API.

pH 4 and pH 10 are not really needed for aquatics, as our water doesn't range that far away from 7.0. It is not necessary to re-calibrate the pH probes every day or even every month. They stay very accurate for as long as 6 months.Hawkfish3.0;1970196;1970196 said:You're right, I should have corrected myself and said the most cost effective way for the average aquarist to monitor their pH is through the use of a liquid reagent test kit like the one from API.
The only problem with electronic pH probes is that they should be calibrated to remain accurate. Do those of you that have them calibrate them daily or every other day? Do you have the pH4 and pH7 buffer solution to calibrate for low range and pH7 and pH10 buffer solution for high range?

I haven't encountered a kit that bad, and hope I never do. As Hawk suggested, the API are good for the average fish keeper, as long as you aren't color blind.Hawkfish3.0;1973692;1973692 said:Shouldn't really create any problems. It's when you can't tell the difference between 7.2 and 5.6 that you should be looking for a different test kit.
