A lot of threads on this but didn't want to hijack anyones so,

What do you guys think I should use on next tank.
I want it to be easy to maintain, awesome filtration and be quiet.

I'm looking to get a 4' X 2', 120 gal as my next tank.
I would like to get away from using these loud ac110's I'm using now.

Would you suggest?

1. Fluval FX5

2. DIY rubbermaid wet/dry sump

3. My old Marineland Tidepool2, hob overflow that I got in trade but never used.

I also don't know if it's worth it to pay the extra and get a drilled tank with durso pipe kit. Like this:

I really want this thing quiet, plus less pipes, tubes etc showing...

thanks

Sumps are great too. Durso overflows, if done correctly, can be quiet, but not completely silent. I like them and would use them in a drilled tank.
It is all about personal opinion. Cannisters can be extremely quiet. I could never heard my XPs running. I had to look for water flow to know they were going.

My fluval 404s are very quiet, although I can still hear a slight hum.

FX3 is also silent and I would think the FX5 is the same design just larger.

I have two Eheim 2217's on my 90, awsome....

Hard to know what to choose.

There's a eheim 2028 with media for $199 shipped right now.

There's also a Eheim 2227 used in my paper for $100.
I figgure the 2227 would be good bio and use my ac110's for mech but the ac110s will still be loud...........

Do you think a 2028 is twice as good as the 2227?

I know the fx5 is loved but I'm not so good at keeping up a cleaning scheldule and the fx5 is mostly mech and will get clogged faster I feel
