Best quiet filter?

FX5 good with just pot scrubbies or do I need to invest in expensive bio media?

Pot scrubbies aren't the best for submerged applications..... It would be just like using bioballs. Without going into a long explanation, you need to use porous media in a canister. There are many cheap alternatives to expensive manufacturer models.
