Of the fish I've kept, the most 'pet' like has been Oscars, followed by any of the Amphs. Don't know why size, aggressive, or strength would have anything to do with 'best'. The other criteria listed are all subjective (i personally think flowerhorns, trimac, dovii, umbee are sort of 'ugly')

for me its more fun to watch a big aggressive and strong wet pet

Why has no one mentioned the syspillum very large tons of color and not real agressive. Red Terrors give you the color but tend to be shy and grow slow. Also with the terror the color only realy shows during spawning. But if I was going to pick one I would go with a pair of red Midas and the real red not the orange colored ones.

For personality an oscar is hard to beat. Now for just awe factor a large male dovii, umbee, or large amphilophus imo

JF Sirois , I have a pair of festae and I LOVE them, great fish, beautiful too. However it takes commitment, they are capable of killing very fast.
