I don't think you can go wrong with a male Amph. that's why i voted midas/rd. I aslo like the fH though, great fish for those who don't mind them.

I voted for a flower horn. They are the most colourful out of them all. But it's a tie with a jag, I love the looks of a jag.

So the best SOLO cichlid is actually a pair of cichlids with a bunch of schooling fish?

:grinno:

yep,for most cichlids to looktheir best keep them in pairs, silverdollars and tetras are not cichlids so they are still SOLO!

I like the look of a tank with a big cichlid as the center piece with a school of dithers to keep things active. Some cichlids however will not tolerate any tank mates unless kept in a very large tank. My RD is solo in a 90 and will not allow anything in there, not even a Pleco. Also the longer these aggressive fish live as a solo fish the less likely they are to ever accept tank mates, especially if introduced into “their tank”.

I’m considering getting rid of my Trimac (he killed my female 2 weeks ago). I’m thinking about doing something different around my GTs which will allow me to decorate the tank a little nicer (as opposed to 50lbs of sand piled against the front glass) maybe do a nice school of BATs in there and group of Corys to cruse the bottom, IDK I’m still toying with the idea. I’ll leave the Krobia and the mollies in the current set-up and just spread things out a little. My point is I’m starting to move away from dedicating an entire tank to one big cichlid and getting into nicely decorated displays to promote more natural behavior and an overall more ascetically pleasing look. I guess I’m mellowing. Nah!
