Sixty-four percent of the harvestable butterfly peacocks in this canal are greater than 14 inches, and 30% are greater than 15 inches (2.0 pounds). Trophy peacock (those greater than five pounds) have been caught from this and other canals

Why not just go and prove them.;)

Really, the only way to find out is try it out. There's no such thing as a best spot. Every time I go the "best" spot is a different one and I fish the same waterways. Fish move around you know. Even PB does, unless they are spawning.... And when they spawn they'll be there for only 5 days at the most,.. this time of year.....And the locals will find them before you come down.:naughty:

You will need lots of luck if you're aiming to catch some monster sized PB on a weekend. You will have better chances during the week.

You are at a big disadvantage on weekends. While you are driving down somebody is already cleaning out the spawners. Your best shot at them is during the week.

Just try as many spots as possible. The so called best spots has already been fished out by the time you get there on the weekend.;)

The larger Peacocks are established in Miami Dade and Southern Broward. There is a temperature difference between broward and Miami Dade, and it seems that as Minute as it may be it holds quite a difference for the peacocks. The peacocks are as large as they are in Dade because we havent really been hit by a strong cold front in a couple of years, In broward it has dropped a bit lower than Dade. The Peas seem to have continuesly grown down here, while in Broward theyve kinda been stunted or died during cold fronts.

The spots down here arent any secret, its basically hit or miss like Matt said. There are canals left and right...just stop try and keep moving until you find an active spot. The fish that Milkman is referring to were Most likely FL Gar ( by the Pike description) They seem Greenish and get to a good size....The only fish that people mistake for peacocks are Uro's , which have a very WIDE establishment througout Miami dade and get pretty decent sizes 17"+. Since what you are looking for are some specific spots I can suggest a few spots in Dade, none really in Broward.

Grumpy? not at all ..... as Laz and I stated only the obvious only he was more detailed in his responce. There is one place where I caught some decent sized peas Jed did as well two yrs ago on our trip. That is on 441 and sample road behind the walmart there is a community of lakes. Jed caught a very nice pea there and I have caught quite a few there a few yrs back. But i havent been there in a long time so I cant tell you if theyre still there.
