best substrate for beards

what is the best substrate for the money, trying to save some money, for a bearded dragon. its going in a 135 with a foot print of 6x1.5 it is 2' tall also. thanks for the help

Calcium sand should never be used for anything other than a soil additive for your yard. It is essentially a variety of sand that has been altered to make it attractive for animals to eat. As sand is a potentially fatal food, "flavoring" it with something animals seek out to eat is a big no-no. Regular play sand or pool filter sand should be used instead if you want to use sand.

Beardies can also be housed on butcher paper or even sand/soil bioactive setups.

I vote play sand, you can get 50 lbs for around 5-7 dollars so to cover that footprint would probably be around $20 I'd imagine.
