^ i completely disagree. The bio active soil i have in my uromastyx in is very nice looking, and i dont ever need to clean up after him, as his feces are gone in about 24hrs.
So you have enough dentrivorous organisms in your tank to break down the feces in just one day? How does bio active soil work, I am not familiar with it. I've heard of keeping dart frogs on a false bottom with a lot of plants to help absorb all of the nitrogen from sht but how would this work within a lizard terrarium. I feel like it would require a hell of a lot of up keep and expertise to create this type of living ecosystem when keeping dart frogs and I'm wondering how this is accomplished with your uromastyx setup.

Not any upkeep at all. I went out and dug some dirt up from a place that is pestecide free, and now all i have take care of is the lizard.

That's why when I first started with reptiles and housed a pair of beardies on play sand , both got impaction, and later on died. Both got autposties ( think that's how it's spelt ) on their bodies and the only reason for their death was impaction

I promise you that there was more going on than sand. Low basking temps and dehydration both cause implications. Here's an example: Try eating ten saltine crackers. Impossible, because your mouth dries out. But as soon as you take a tiny sip of water to moisten your mouth, it's child's play. The same happens inside a reptile. If they have adequate water in their systems, they will pass substrate without any problems.

I promise you there wasn't. Bakin temps were always perfect or near, and they drank every time it was offered .
