Again, why hope when you could drip and be safe?

I *hope* I don't kill my fish!

Put him in a small container, add enough water to keep him covered, and drip the the water gets close to the same temp. That's the only way I move my fish tank to tank, even if the temp is the same.

u got me wrong bro.
what i was *hoping* for was the other tank's water parameters BESIDES the temp. ;)
i.e. ph, ammonia and so on.

Huh?

bump 4 this :D

should i drain half the water in his tank then slowly add the new water to his tank?

so would that work?
or a 10 gallon half full of his water then drip new tank water the other half of the 10 g?
and should i add air during this?
thanks for the replies.will be moving him in a few days.
hope hes not as spastic as my bass

either of those methods would work. Draining half of his tank would be the least stress, and you could use it as a small water chage for your bigger tank:)

I would areate, but it might not be necessary.

update,
this is by far the best way.
it took about 4 hours of dripping to get the temp the same and water quality the same.
the fish had no clue what was happening till i netted them.
i moved 3 fish at once this way.
had to change alot of water from the dripping but thats good.
55 dripping into the 20,fill 55 with new water when needed, drain 20 when needed.
thanks everyone for all the great info.
might post pics in the photo lounge but hes hard to get pics of.
:D
