When I was a teenager a few friends and I went and bought bettas to watch them fight. I can only speak of this event but it was LAME. The fish hardly did anything to each other, keeping a red devil and texas cichlid and butterkofferi in a 125 was more entertaining and aggressive. We ended up using the bettas as feeders. I would not do this again at this point in life, cruelty to animals just isn't right and somethings you learn with age.

Betta fighting is cruel and stupid, but I definitely don't think it should be a felony. There should definitely be a fine for it, but to put someone in jail for killing a few $2 fish would be a waste of time and money.

Actually I have done weeks of research on rodeo and rodeo cruelty. I'm in Houston and have policed the annual event often. I'll introduce you to performers who say FiRST HAND some of the stuff the animals go through that inflicts pain, stress, injury, and death before, during, and after the event! I'll take you to our HSPCA and show you how some "EX" rodeo animals that no longer perform were abandoned and treated!
Rodeo associations claim very few animals are injured and killed in rodeos. That is a lie. In fact, rodeo associations do not disclose animal injuries and deaths. Furthermore, those who do commit humane violations are granted anonymity.
ALSO, don't get me started on posting pictures, footage, and testimony of animal abuse, cruelty, injury, and callousness in dealings with rodeo. Rodeo is BIG business, and an "American Staple" but it's a fasade to think that those animals are living the animal dream in beautiful co-operative participation.
What do you think happens to some of the wild horses that topple over and injury their leg? Or the calf that gets its neck injured while being roped, [it doesn't always go perfect], and in many cases the animal in treated, rehabilitated, and either perform again, or donated. Other times an animal is abused, abandoned, put to sleep, etc. To say their is NO CRUELTY or ABUSE in rodeo is truly the misinformed person. There currently is open investigations in many cities against rodeo practices, and there have been many convictions from Illionois, to Oklahoma, to Texas, to Australia, on cases of rodeo cruelty to name a few. If you even simply go google the word, rodeo cruelty, you will see articles, footage, etc about REAL rodeo issues. Or go to Youtube, and type it in and watch tons of footage. It's all entertainment though so it's alright right?

I love it when people say..."it's no pain"...as if the animal told us "oh no it doesnt bother me at all!" Sure science teaches us some things about pain, however, we tend to not do proper research on things that are big business and can ruin the good ol American fun!

I have a very hard time believing that.:headshake

Why? Some fish like Cichlids, Catfish, Puffers, and Sunfish become very attached to their owners, while some dogs don't. I have a fish that has almost as much personality as my dog. Ironically, it's a Crowntail Betta. My Betta and my Ctenopoma also have more personality than my cat.

Im guessing you got this from PETA ROFL...I bet you hav never seen a rodeo. We went through 10 seasons of rodeo no animal injuries...and on youtube you can post whatever you want. HaHa even better yet the rodeo animals are probably better treated then what your spouse or other half treats you. If a horse breaks its leg there is truly nothing you can do to save it...And if rodeo was SO BAD IT WOULD BE BANNED LIKE SLAVERY! People read one article and listen to some stupid meaningless stats and assume things are terrible. And we all Know whats happens when you assume except in this case your making a *** out of you not me just you...Also the wildhorse thing is useless...horses are bred to buck and be stronger and better and to be less injury prone...Seriously take some time study both sides go to some contracters ask them how the animals are treated. Because see one horse get hot shocked doesnt mean they aren't treated greatly... Youtube.com isvery biast too you can say whatever you want for a film... heres one for you too

Ok the horse gets gored by accident...Then the cowboy runs away after being slammed...Name one person in the whole worldwho would actually stand there after being slammed...really do it

Then the fighter throws his hat accidently hitting the horse...
He throws it to distract the bull not hit the horse if he gets the bulls attention he can easily get it away from the horse...

Then he goes on complaining about clapping hands...its because no one is hurt! And to be glad about it...

And I own horses if a horse is gored you can't really save it...It probably had too much internal damage to fix so they put it down...Not waited till it bled out they gave it a pain killing shot and then put it out seriously this shows how biased youtube.com is....

Actually NO i didn't get ANYTHING from PETA in fact I dont care for PETA very much.
Pointless to debate with a person who believes there is NO cruelty in the rodeo world. As I have stated. CONVICTIONS, INVESTIGATIONS, both past and present! ACTUAL!
repeat...CONVICTIONS AND INVESTIGATIONS!

ALso you missed the point, the horse should have NEVER been put in that position to be injured in the first place for your entertainment! PERIOD!
And your argument that if it were bad it would be banned is weak!.....Over the course of our history, there have been HUNDREDS of laws that have been rewritten, changed, amended, or gotten rid of, just in my fathers lifetime civil rights were granted. Things like Stem cell research, homosexual marriage, and military service, terrorist treatment, animal rights bills etc, things that have been in practice for generations LIKE SLAVERY was never right simply cause it was legal....same thing with rodeo!
Rodeo is funded by sponsorships, corporations, and government aid. They have regulations, yet the practice and enforcements of these regulations are not always done correctly, and it's at the animals expense. I have been in law enforcement since I left the military for over 10 years, I have been to countless rodeo shows here in Houston, before, during and after the show. I'm not ignorant to the workings of the organization, I even acknowlege the good things that come out of rodeo, such as scholorships, financial assistance, etc. But if you assume there is no animal cruelty in rodeo than the *** in this convo is self evident.

MEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I USE BETTA'S AS FEEDERS

I seriously hate them that much. Funniest is when one flared up just before it got eaten.
