So I have a 8-9" male paratilapia polleni. This fish is quite odd as it only seams to be happy while kept in a 29g tank. Currently he is alone in a standard 55g tank, sits all the time sulking in the corner or by whatever piece of decor is in the tank. He barely will eat anything and will kill most any dither type fish I put in with him. Previously I tried to keep him in my 450g, same result, constantly hid, never came out during feedings. After 5-6 weeks I moved him back to the 29g, he went back to his old self within a few days. Now, the same with the 55g, can't say keeping a fish this size in a 29g is the right thing to do, but in this case the fish seems better off.

Thoughts?

Edit: The polleni has been in the current 55g tank for almost 2 months

Same thing with me my green spotted puffer would only like my 10g I tried to stick him in my 55 but would look depressed and not eat. Eventually I had to give him away because he was getting kinda big and a 10g is not subduable for him and heard people said they need saltwater to live or they die young.

Forgot to include that he has been in the 55g now for almost 2 months.

add some dithers to make him feel more comfortable?

got pics of both tanks? there has to be some reason he doesn't like the larger tank, I doubt it would be too much water...

as I stated previously he kills all dither type fish that have been added.

Maybe he feels more secure in the little tank, his own little lair.
