BETTER SHOW TANK ARMATUS VS ATF

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
But what's everyones take on the three dorado and bichirs mixed, I know I can get 4'' dorado's now , but not sure if when dorado's are big they will start fighting , but I have seen dorado shoals before thats the thing

I'd go with 3 armatus and 3 or 4 rays, and maybe a black wolf. Or a large Aimara. I really liked the aimara varient that Oliver Lucanus from Below Water brought in recently. I think they were from Guyana.

Bichirs don't really apeal to me so I'd do the trio of Dorado and stick with them.

:headbang2

armatus are def the best show fish.

nothing compares to a 24" armatus eating a 8 or 10 inch feeder in front of the audience lol

some do,some dont.
many ive seen just hover in place.
dorado tend to fight more when younger it seems.im sure you'll be fine with a few.

i have four dorados and 3 red tail payaras (tatauia). the dorados seem to do well with each other. infact they are better shoalers than the payaras. however, dorados are nasty towards different species when they fight and are bullies at times.
IMO, either dorados alone or payaras, housed in an amazon biotope. that would be a great sight to enjoy!

How many shoals have you raised? :naughty: Mine got more and more aggressive the older they got. They did not mellow out with age in any way shape or form.

Get 3 Dorado. Drop them in the 300. There's always exceptions. Oddball and I both failed with 300 gallon tanks and 6 pc shoals, but hey, maybe your results will be different. Never know till you try. The more crowded the tank is the better your chances are...
