thanks for the heads up! almost wanted to buy his aquarium... posted at ebay very tempting. someone was selling also a 180 gal which is 72x24x24 size but the thickness is 3/8" kinda scared. i know it should be 1/2" opps :(

You are lucky you didn't. I forgot to tell everybody, but he screws you over on the shipping to. He does not pay the truck company for the liftgate, so they charge you when they call to schedule a delivery time, usually about $125.

In my case, he used a company that did not even have a liftgate big enough to accommodate the crates, so I had to rent a forklift to offload his poor crap. Cost me $350.00, and that's money I can't get back!

When you call their office now, noone answers, and you get a message that says the mailbox is full, and he does not answer emails either. He might be out of business.

Thanks for the heads up and sorry to hear what happened to you. I hope you get your money back and that this guy picks up his faulty product.

Threads like this are important to keep the good customers away from bad sellers.

Hey Guys....I'm Freshly Registered at MFK but a regular on some other boards(Different Avatar...I just can't find my regular one).

I've been to Precision Clarity and met Mike. His facility is about 1/2 hour from my house. I saw his tanks on Ebay and put a call into him to discuss building a 240 for my house.

He had just moved to a new warehouse facility. He probably had three tanks that were being put together at the time. They were all over 300gallons. The largest tank he was working on was huge for the size of his operation. I don't remember the dimensions but it was over 900gallons. He was really selling his ability to make larger tanks at a better price than a small tank(240 Gallons.)

The only thing at the time that I didn't like about his tanks was that he didn't have top and bottom slots cut in the overflows and hadn't seen anytanks that had that feature. I found that odd. He also wasn't rounding or smoothing the edges on the tanks, although they weren't all completed.

Anyway...Good post. I was considering getting a tank from him and have referred others to his business already.

My opinion obviously is that you should refrain from refering anybody else to Mike and Precision Clarity. If their experience is as bad as mine, I promise you that you will regret having done so. It really sucks when you recommend somebody to another person or company and that person gets burned.

Check out the Vendor Experiences page on www.reefcentral.com. I have exchanged PMs with a member of this site who bought one of Mike's tanks from ebay that was crap, and gave Mike bad feedback on ebay and told the world how bad his experience was in a number of different threads on reefcentral. According to the buyer, Mike paid him off to get him to retract the bad feedback on ebay. The buyer went so far as to state on reefcentral that his dispute was resolved, insinuating that Mike and his company were actually good. He said to me privately that the tank was crap, and that he was scared shi*less while filling it. He said that the tank is a total piece of crap and that the top is bowing even after having been reinforced.

I would list my experience there, but they have some restriction that prohibits people with less than 50 postings from starting a trhead in this section. It's unfortunate because I can post in other areas of the site, and I wish I could start my own thread there instead of just responding to others.

i agree with "robkob" on that! :headbang2 it would be better to get a clear for life commercial aquarium than get a dirty job which would just be a misearable mistake that you might regret. referring to other people would be good if the company does an excellent job. :headbang2 just my opinion! :grinyes: PEACE!

Agreed. I don't know how clear I was, but I referred some people based upon that visit. I would never point anyone that direction based upon the comments I've read here. I have noticed on Ebay that anytime anyone posts a negative feedback, that it's a major problem, and that it always get retracted a week later.

Sorry to hear about your nightmare dealing with PRECISION CLARITY

I've already taken him off my favorites on Ebay and will also make sure to warn anyone else that might be thinking about purchasing from them as they are HACKS at building acrylic tanks ..I already warned a few people and i'm sure that they will warn more people so eventually this guys name will be ruined and his buiness will slowly die away

That is such a shame...I am glad you shared the information with us so we dont make the same mistake. People who are not qualified to make tanks should not. Its just that simple. If you make tanks yourself and they work then thats great. When you start selling them and need to produce them by a deadline then that is where the problems start. The same level of care and concern over each step is not taken and as a result this is what the result is. It is sad that he is not willing to compensate your entire amount in that he is in the business of customer satisfaction. Businesses like this thrive on return customers and referals. Obviously, they are not concerned with that. As one person mentioned on the upside at least you didnt put water in it yet. If that had broken and you had extensive water damage then you might be looking at thousands in repairing all the damaged items in your home. Quite sad that in this day and age of so many businesses competing against each other that these guys couldnt at least give you your money back.

thats what i call a one shot deal with no repeat customer. :( those business will not last long. and maybe he will if he keeps on changing his company name and his own name. sad to say but some business are just doing monkey business out of honest people :( if they are regulated by the BBB i would file a complaint and this would impact him, not only that.. it will warn people asides from the people of MFK. ;) so a lesson learned is... to check out and ask around... i have been looking for a very reliable aquarium maker and some comercial makers to. price are not too far. its where you will have a peace of mind... you don't want to wake up in the middle of the night just thinking if the aquarium or the stand would hold up until you wake up. :(

i to have been screwed by mike at precision clarity..built my tank with material thickness diffrent than what i paid for..last communication monday last week was a new one was being nuilt and would ship friday, monday at the latest..guess what..he doesn't answer any of my emails..go figure..don't waste your money with this jerk..he's a con artist
