This thread was originally about the do gooders changing written material from the past, in an attempt to make it more suitable for fragile modern day snow flake minds. But then something even more troublesome hit me. Any success with this and then what?

How long before countless old film reels and archive footage from great series/shows of yesteryear are re-edited, cut or dubbed, or, in the case of really risque shows such as "The Benny Hill Show", which is pretty much unshowable nowadays due to its sexism content, will be burnt on some great classic comedy funeral pyre.

The big syndication companies have canceled the Dilbert comic strip. A complaint had been made that there were only white people in his comic strip, where in fact there was also an engineer from India.

So, recently, author Scott Adams created a black character in his comic strip, who basically did the same thing as the white hero of the comic strip: make fun of the boss and the company policies. In fact, almost everyone in the comic strip did exactly that.

Unfortunately this was somehow seen as racist, and so Scott decided that he would get his comic strip canceled on purpose. I suspect, so that he could be relieved of his publishing contracts and then publish on the Internet for himself. (He said nearly this on a podcast, not long after those initial claims of racism.)

In his recent online podcast, he quoted a poll by Rasmussen in the USA, which claimed to show that a lot of Black people don’t like White people.

Scott said the Rasmussen poll showed him it was unwise for white people to move into black neighborhoods, as too many responders had said that it was not “OK to be White.” 21% so, and another 20% were “not sure if it was OK”.

I don’t recall if that was the exact wording, but this poll showed a clear ratio of unmasked bias.

The major newspapers who all will no longer carry Scott’s comic strip published the results of Rasmussen, but by quoting the results of this poll on the air, Scott Adams got everyone to call him a racist.

And the rest is history. If you want to read Dilbert you’ll have to go to dilbert.com

. . . "The Benny Hill Show". . .

My boss used to talk about that show. One year for Christmas I gave him a collection of all the uncensored Benny Hill shows recorded on video tape. Yeah it was back in the 90s.

I don’t think he actually watched them though.

I watched The Benny Show when I was a kid.

The Benny Hill Show was great. It was very much on a par, content wise, with the Carry On Films. I'm not sure how familiar you guys in the state's will be with the Carry On franchise. There were dozens made, such as Carry on Camping, Carry on Matron and Carry on up the Jungle.

As with Benny Hill they would be considered a little risque for current times. They were peppered with harmless slapstick fun and double entendre.

I'd be interested in reading a non fiction version of the bible, lol.

That's already available, in two volumes. The first volume is called "A Brief History of Time", written by Stephen Hawking; the second, predating the first, is called "The Origin of Species" by an old codger named Charles Darwin.

Both gentlemen are deceased and, if you believe their detractors, currently residing in Hell.

Personally, I would love to see a synopsis written by a gent named Rick Sanchez; if he ever stays sober long enough, he seems to have a pretty good handle on the nature of reality...:)

I think there's a bible for each religion, and each one claims to be the real deal, lol. That alone has got to tell you something, but still the masses follow.

They should get their stubborn heads together and come up with a single version at least, with snippets from each, and then make a movie too for good measure, lol.
